Market Recap - Markets Tentative Ahead Of US And China Talks

A fresh new week with fresh new possibilities, but first let's outline how the markets opened up over the weekend.

Equities markets started off mixed this week, the Nikkei 225 traded lower by 0.31%, Australia's ASX traded just above flat at 0.09% and the Shanghai Comp. closed 0.83% higher. In the UK there was an interesting bit of data out overnight, Rightmove House Price Index data showed house prices fell -2.3% vs the previous reading of -0.1%, keep an eye on the homebuilders this morning. 

In commodities markets, the spot WTI traded well overnight to continue its positive close at the end of last week. The liquid gold now trades at the $65.88/bbl level up half a percent.

Gold is also slightly higher this morning, the precious metal is still below the pivotal $1200/oz level and trades flat this morning at $1186/oz.

Copper is trading just under flat as markets remain jittery ahead of this weeks crunch talks between the US and China. The industrial metal is currently down 0.27% overnight trading at $2.64/lb.
